How to install an electric garage heater NewAir

It’s 44 degrees in the shop today. Let’s do something about that. As part of the recent shop improvements that I’ve been trying to make, one of my goals has been to make the shop comfortable year round. And it just so happens that, right now, it’s unseasonably cold, especially for southern California, so the shop is really cold. That’s why today, I’m gonna be installing this NewAir electric garage heater.

The folks over at NewAir sent me this 5,000 watt garage heater. It comes with a bracket that you can either hang from the wall or from the ceiling, and it puts out 15,000 BTUs of heat. Especially since my table saw accident, my hand tends to really stiffen up when it gets cold. So having a heated shop is really beneficial this time of year. I rank these projects by how many F bombs you’re likely to drop while tackling the project.

How to Install a LED Strip Light. Garage Lighting Upgrade

Welcome back to another episode of Tognacci Woodworks with me, Tim Tognacci. This video will be a bit different than the others since there is no “woodworks” in this one. Instead, I’ll be showing you how to replace a light bulb with an LED strip light, but I have a feeling that you already knew that.

Anyways, first things we’re going to need is an LED strip light. Either make on appear out of thin air or head to the store because this is imperative to the project. Carefully examine the box… yep, that’s the right one. Once you’ve confirmed with yourself that you did indeed make the right purchase, go ahead and open up that box and take out all of the components. Which is most lightly the light and a set of instructions.

And speaking of instructions, that does seem like the next logical step in our process so let’s take a look and see what we’ve got here… okay… looks standard. Here are all the pieces, make sure you turn off the circuit breaker, don’t electrocute yourself, okay, I think I got it. Go ahead and crinkle up those instructions, find the nearest trash bin, and shoot. Ugh! Darnit! Ahh, there we go! After you realize that you are not in fact an electrician or a professional basketball player, go ahead and head to the trash bin and remove the instructions and uncrinkle that ball of paper because reading this is actually important if you want to install these the right way.

Before we get started, let’s grab the necessary tools to complete this project and that includes a hammer, a screwdriver, and some pliers. I’m not sure which kind so I grabbed two. Oh! And I’m not sure why, but some eye protection as well.

How to prepare your garage for a new car lift

Preparing your shop or garage for a new car lift is the same whether you’re getting a two-post lift, four-post lift, low-rise or anything in between. This video will cover the five things you need to know to have your shop or garage properly prepared and ready to receive your new car lift.

Number 1 – Know Your Floor Specs First thing you need to know is whether or not your concrete floor is good to go. Shop and home garage floors may come in different concrete thicknesses and pressure strengths. If you don’t know your concrete floor specifications, it may be required for you to get it tested by an engineer.

Different lifts have different concrete requirements, and generally speaking, the heavier the lift, the thicker the concrete needs to be. Know what your space needs before an installer shows up with your lift. If you need to put down additional concrete or re-do your flooring, it’s best to do so before the lift is delivered. You can find concrete floor specifications for each model on BendPak’s website at www.bendpak.com/floor.
