We are staring our list with the most expensive product, the Astro 3018 digital tire inflator. This compressor features sturdy design, having a highly durable hose, braided with steel, works with nitrogen and CO2. It is also economically viable, featuring tripe A battery system.
For convenience reasons, the Astro 3018 displays the numbers in BARs, PSI and KG, compatible with the tire pressure monitoring system (for further references, we will use the acronym TPMS.
The display is transparent and easy to read, covered with a layer of rubber for extra comfort (as is the entire device). It is ergonomically designed, very comfortable to use. This product features dual position lever, meaning it can inflate and deflate.
The air chuck, a piece which you attach to the tire, is brass made and heavy coated, highly durable and robust. The compressor works at a temperature between 32°f and 104°f. It is also conservative when it comes to battery consumption. Also, the battery port is covered by plastic cover and rubber, so you’ll experience some difficulty replacing it.
Most importantly, this air compressor is highly accurate, featuring 0.1 psi resolution for easier and accurate reading. All in all, this compressor is easy to use, it connects to the valve straightforwardly, and is highly durable.
The downsides are the price and battery replaced, which is somewhat uncomfortable.
ONTEL Air Hawk Cordless Air Compressor is probably the most advanced, almost futuristic air compressor, very convenient and easy to use. Since it is cordless, you can carry it around wherever you go.
This cordless tire inflator sucks the atmospheric air through the integrated wents and then compresses it into the tire. It operates safely and conveniently.
It monitors and reads the pressure and then displays it on an LED display. This product is smart, featuring auto stop mode; it will stop once the optimal pressure is reached. Moreover, upon purchase, you receive multiple air nozzles, so that you can use it with vehicles, sports equipment, toys and so forth.
The product is sturdy and durable and will perform over an extended period. Upon purchase, you receive the rechargeable battery, charger, pin attachments (for various use), and a carrying bag. All in all, this is a solid, portable and compact multipurpose air inflator.
There are several downsides to this piece of hardware. Firstly, it inflates very slowly, especially if you have to inflate a more massive object (like an inflatable tool). Furthermore, the battery life is not that great, so you’ll have to recharge it quite often.
It is neatly designed, somewhat robust, compact and very convenient to use, but operates rather slowly. If you are not in a rush and need a portable, cordless compressor, ONTEL Air Hawk isn’t a bad choice. See full video review here.
Tcisa Portable Air Compressor is a multipurpose, robust and efficient air compressor. The product features auto-off option, meaning it will turn off once the set value has been reached.
Furthermore, the air pressure is displayed on a circular, easy to navigate monitor. The monitor is backlit, LED for easier reading, displaying in PSI, BAR, KG, and KPA. Interestingly, the product also features four LED lights, convenient for use in dark areas (or during the night).
To function, you will have to plug the device into the 12 V cigarette lighter socket, which can be inconvenient if you are looking for more convenient, battery powered compressor. This is somewhat limiting since you can use the standard 220 volt or 120 volt sockets.
However, it operates rapidly, pumping roughly 35 liters of air per minute, which s quite impressive. You can easily use it to inflate massive trucks or motor lorries. If looking for a fast, sturdy and precise air compressor, this is the one for you. Recommended to professional truck drivers, whose life depends on trucks safety.
However, if you are looking for compatible and compact air pressure, this isn’t the product for you. It is a bit bulky and massive, but it has to be that way if you seek powerful air compressor.
GOOLOO Digital Tire Inflator is rapid tire inflator, suitable for inflating truck tires, inflatable pools, and sports equipment. It too features auto shut down option, meaning it will stop inflating once the desired level is reached.
Nozzles are quality made, and won’t leak the air even after extended use. In fact, the entire product will function properly even after years of use. The LCD monitor (backlit) is easy to read, though, I wish it were just a bit bigger. Don’t get me wrong, you can easily see the numbers (in BAR, PSI or KPA), but the monitor could have been just a smidge larger.
The red on/off button is at the bottom of the device, and you also have the conversion unit button, next to the up and down pressure value buttons. The product is compact and portable but uses 12 V cigarette DC power, which is somewhat limiting.
It is also worth mentioning that despite its features and quality design this product is very inexpensive and valuable purchase for anyone looking to buy an air compressor. It is incredibly lightweight and simple to use but features somewhat limiting 12V cigarette socket.
AUDEW is one of the best portable tire inflator features dual cylinder design, making it possible for this compressor to pump 0 to 35 PSI in roughly 2 minutes. In short, it pumps rapidly.
Apart from being fast, this portable air compressor can be used for inflating cars, minivans, motorcycles, sports equipment and other inflatable devices. Max pressure is 150API. It comes with three different nozzles for easier use.
This product is made of insulated metal, assuring the compressor’s long and safe usability. Covering mat is designed to reduce the on floor vibration, as well as to reduce the noise while operating. The compressor is also covered with rubber to prevent any air leak and to ensure that the device doesn’t roam around as you use it.
It features ergonomic, portable and rotatable handle, and a corded power hose which adjusts easily to the tire’s valve. All in all, this is a solid, sturdy and rapid air compressor, suited for homeowners. The product also comes with carrying bag and instruction manual.
Power wise, you can plug it in in 12V cigarette socket, or directly to the battery, which is rather convenient. While the product deals well with the heat, the plastic cover won’t disperse the heat that efficiently, so don’t overuse it (use for 10 minutes and then let it cools of 3-4 minutes).
Made by Tuisy, the Digital Tire Pressure Gauge is highly accurate (with 1% offchance), showcasing the result on beautiful and modern looking LED display. Note that this is only a gauge, not a compressor, so you’ll have to purchase the compressor separately.
Display portrays the results in PSI, BAR, KPA, and KG. Furthermore, this air compressor features lockable air chuck, assuring that it stays attached to the tire’s valve when used. The chuck is alloy made, as are the ends of the extended hose, given to you for comfortable use.
It is neatly designed, compact and exceptionally lightweight made to prevent air leaks while operating. The product is portable, fit for all homeowners.
The product uses 2 AAA 1.5V batteries, which come included together with the user’s manual. When it comes to accuracy, this gauge meter is accurate to ±1%. It acts as an air pressure monitor, inflator and deflator, all of that in one handy device.
We commend the neatly designed and easy to read display, compact design and accurate measuring. The downside is that the product isn’t as sturdy as other, more expensive and massive air compressors and gauges on the list. Furthermore, it is powered by batteries, meaning that you sacrifice power for convenience.
DIYCO Digital compressor is extremely versatile, delivering two air chucks, the lockable chuck, and the 45-degree chuck, with angled valve extension for comfortable motorcycle inflation. DIYCO is a somewhat young company (USA company), so it is no wonder that they try to introduce new designs and options into the world of air gauges and inflators.
Indeed, the product is versatile, made to be compatible with all TPMS. It is accurate, gauging between +/-1%, its max pressure range is 150 PSI. The product emphasizes convenience and accuracy. It is powered AAA batteries (2), which come with the product.
Measuring is digital, displayed on the blue LED backlit screen in PSI, BAR, KG, and KPA. Upon purchase, you receive two air chucks (though you can order additional chucks), an extension for motorcycle inflating (right-angled), batteries and user manual, amongst some other small accessories.
It is compact and inexpensive, yet quite robust and durable, as it should be. This tire pressure is manufactured in the USA, which is a plus. It is portable and effortless to use, with user-friendly customer service. DIYCO Digital Tire Pressure Gauge/Inflator is a bit weaker and slower compared to some other air compressors on the list.
Up until now, all tire inflators offered maximum 150 PSI pressure capacity. Well, Motor Luxe Tire Inflator stepped up their game, featuring 170 PSI gauge meter. Note that this product requires you to own air compressor (it is a gauge, not a compressor).
As such, naturally, it doesn’t require any batteries nor power plug in to operate. Instead, it uses analog measuring and displaying it on a circular, pin-pointed display.
The chuck is lockable, thus preventing inconvenience and air leaks while being used. The gauge is well built, sturdy and reliable, able to measure the air pressure accurately. Upon purchase, you receive a lot of handy accessories (such as sports pin adapter, 1/4 compressor fitting, etc.)
The product operates without any significant technical difficulties. It is ergonomically designed, lightweight and very easy to use. It doesn’t leak air and measures the pressure with high accuracy. The display isn’t LED, so you want to be able to use it in the dark, which is somewhat inconvenient.
The gauge is somewhat difficult to read even under the light since the numbers are so clumped up (perhaps larger gauge would be a good solution). Apart from these issues, the products work great, with the emphasis on accuracy and durability.
Made by Kensun, this portable tire inflator features AD/DC powering system, meaning you can use it in your home or power it via 12 V cigarette lighter socket. The product comes with several nozzle attachments, suitable for inflating anything from cars to inflatable toys.
It features easy to read LCD, with the ability to auto stop once the dedicated pressure is reached. The product is fantastic when it comes to heat tolerance, and can function up to 30 minutes (at 35 PSI on average) without a need for pause. This is possible thanks to the high quality, head dispersing design.
It features front LED light, which will illuminate dark environment and make the tire inflating more comfortable and straightforward. The hose is black, woven, designed to last, as is the rest of this piece of hardware. Ideal operating temperature is between 14 and140 Fahrenheit degrees.
Upon purchase, you receive two nozzle attachments, user manual, and carrying bag. We commend the robustness and the overall built of this compressor. But, the LCD is often difficult to read at a specific angle, so you’ll have to lean to read it.
Also, the compressor doesn’t remember the pressure settings, and returns are back to 35 PSI every time you unplug it. These issues aren’t significant but are somewhat annoying
The last product on our list is made compressor/gauge manufactured by the DYTesa. It features 100 PSI maximum pressure, going from 0 – 32 PSI in roughly 4 minutes. So, it is fast and powerful, deriving its power from the 12V socket.
The compressor features LED light for night use, though the display isn’t LED, which is somewhat strange. In essence, you will have to light up the display if you want to read it during the night.
The frame is well built and compact and comes with three different nozzles, which you can use to inflate automobile tires, motorcycle tires, sports equipment and so forth. The nozzle is easily attachable/detachable.
The air hose is black woven, very sturdy, so it won’t leak air while measuring or inflating. Overall, the product is potent. I was honestly amazed by how well designed it is: compact, yet rapid and powerful. It is also sturdy and robust and will serve you for years.
We wish the display were LED so that it could be read during the night, but it is a small inconvenience. And even during daylight, the numbers are still somewhat difficult to read. Other than that, we have no complaints regarding this inflator.
In this segment, we will explain the benefits of owning a tire inflator (with gauge). Aside from that, we will also discuss what factors you should include in your selection process. We want to emphasize the fact that you should always buy the product according to your needs and preferences.
How many times did you visit a gas station to inflate the tires? Moreover, how many times did you use a manual pump to inflate the basketball or bicycle? Probably a lot. Well, tire inflator, that is, the air compressor, help you avoid that problem.
Air compressors, powered by AC, DC or batteries, suck the outside air and direct it into the desired object. But, you also need to know when to stop, or whether the tire or ball is underinflated or overinflated. This is where gauge meter comes into play.
n essence, once you combine the two pieces, compressor, and meter, you are equipped to assure that every inflatable object, whether it is tire, sports ball or air mattress, is inflated to its potential level. This is especially important for car and truck tires, for they not only affect the gas mileage but also your safety on the road.
There are several crucial things you have to consider before you decide to buy tire inflator.
Accuracy
Gauge accuracy helps you determine the existing air pressure. This is true for both the gauges that do and don’t feature auto off modes. In essence, you want to fill the tire to its recommended level manually, or you want to set the gauge to shut off automatically once you reach the desired level.
The gauges we reviewed are very accurate, all accuracy-certified, operating within +-1 PSI error. Not that, if you purchase the gauge with compressor, measure while the compressor is turned off to give you a better reading.
Readability
Some of the product we reviewed feature beautiful, digital display, while other invested most of their resources building solid frame, thus neglecting the display. Though you can read them all, some are easier to read than the others.
Also, LED monitors can be used at night, while the same cannot be said for analog monitors. Then again, you can light it up using flashlight or smartphone. But, it is a convenience thing, one you should consider when buying the compressor with gauge.
Design
When we say design, by that we mean the casing, the hose quality, compactness, portability, etc. We discussed all of this as we were reviewing the particular products.
In essence, almost all products are lightweight and portable, some more some less. We also reviewed two products that come without compressors, so that you can obtain them if you don’t need a compressor or already have one.
The general rule says that more expensive products are also more robust and durable. This applies especially to hose construction and connectivity, for you want to avoid air leaking while using the compressor or measuring the pressure.
Power Supply
The products are either powered by batteries or require 12 V DC socket, known as the cigarette lighter socket found in your car. Generally speaking, battery-powered devices offer more comfort and confidence, but it all depends on the power consumption.
One device, the Kensun Portable Air Compressor, features AC and DC power compatibility, meaning you can also plug it in in your home. We didn’t discuss power cord length, for all cords are long enough to reach the tires, which is what this article is all about.
If you went through the article with full attention, you learned enough (hopefully) to make a successful and satisfying purchase. But do include the things that might matter to you, for we surely missed some things.
Tire inflator with gauge is s complex device, and you should take your time before you obtain one. However, there is no about that it is very useful to have one in your home, for your personal use.

AUDET Portable Air Compressor
I bought this for an upcoming road trip. This tire Inflator is lightweight and portable, and also very easy to use. The tire inflator comes in a handy little bag and is surprisingly light and compact. My car had low tire pressure light on a couple times while I was driving. This tire inflator with gauge can detect tire current pressure, and show that on the screen. I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to have a portal pump in their car. Excellent product!
I only use those gauges to get close to the right pressure (I have the same inflator gun from CT), then use a digital tire pressure gauge to check/bleed/check until I get them to the right pressure. Found the same thing on my bike pump ($70 floor pump), the gauge was nowhere near accurate, especially with the small scale, and there is no way I wrapped the gauge on a floor pump!
Funny enough, I didn't buy the inflator gun for doing tires (but use it for that now, although its a bigger pain than the old school stick-style inflator I have), I actually bought it so I could pressurize the intake system on my car to find a vacuum leak - I didn't want to just apply pressure and leave it as the leak was too big, I wanted to be able to pressure it up with the trigger handle, but I ended up dropping a part of my home-built pressurizing cap into the inlet of the turbocharger, which led to me pulling the turbo inlet piping (what a messy job that was, amazing how much oil the turbo & PCV systems concentrates in that piping!). Serendipitously, after I recovered the part from the inlet piping, but just before I started down the road of reassembling the piping, I decided to take a quick break (while laying under the car), looked up and was staring straight at the broken vacuum tee that I must have broken while pulling the oil filter out during an oil change.
Oddly, I found that the CT inflator also has a bleed button - not sure its in the instructions (or if there even were instructions).
Has anyone used a battery operated tire inflator they recommend? Tired of waiting in line to get all three cars checked and inflated or paying $1.50 to do it my self at a gas station. I tested out a 120V, wall plug-in air pump, but I did not like dragging around a long orange cord to get to all three cars. I like the feature of setting the PSI and the pump/inflator auto fills and stops. A battery would let me go quickly car to car, making it part of my Saturday routine, along with wash and other checks.
Any experiences or advice would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
I have had 4WD air compressor for over 20 years to inflate my passenger cars which I carry always in the car, never owned a 4WD vehicle. They have clamps that connect to the battery terminals, not the cigarette lighter. I just go around and check tyre pressure with manual gauge first, to determine which tires need adjustment. Then I just hook up the compressor to the battery and away I go. The length of the battery leads and air hose is sufficient to reach the rear tyres on either side. If you use it with the engine running, its even quicker to inflate the tyre, but can be used w/out the engine running
If you're looking at doing this for 3 cars, I believe you will be a long time doing it with the hand held portable battery inflators.
